Lab grown diamonds
Lab grown diamonds, also called synthetic diamonds are actually lab created or, manufactured using either a chemical or physical processes. The diamonds are like those created based on ground conditions, what are called natural diamonds. Both lab grown diamonds and natural diamonds are composed of a three dimensional carbon crystal. While the natural diamond is used mainly for cosmetic purposes, the lab grown diamond has distinct physical properties that makes it ideal for use in industrial manufacturing applications. Lab grown diamond has begun to dominate in some manufacturing sectors such as electronics and medicine. Synthetic diamonds are manufactured in a lab under different procedures than the DLC which is known as an imitation diamond and is made of materials such as zirconium and silicon carbide. The most amazing thing about lab grown diamonds is that they are molecularly identical to natural diamonds. In fact a lab grown or synthetic diamonds can have superior and stronger properties than natural diamonds such as purity and hardness of the diamond. Despite that fact natural diamonds continue to be more expensive than lab grown diamonds. However we examine how lab grown diamonds are actually manufactured. Microscopic diamond grain is actually placed in a machine that emits over 400,000 pounds of pressure and at temperatures as exceeding 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This is to replicate the natural process under which diamonds were created. When this happens the nugget grows very slowly usually an atom at a time. This process can take anywhere from four (4) to six (6) days depending on the amount of carats that have been requested for a particular diamond. Lab grown diamonds can even come in colors. These colors are normally those that can be found in natural mined diamonds. One of the most popular colors in diamonds is the yellow diamond which gets its color during the lab process by increase in nitrogen levels. However there is a big catch to the diamonds. As a consumer you cannot tell the difference between lab grown diamonds and natural diamonds. The differences are not visible to the naked eye and even if a microscope is used no one can actually tell the difference. Using a machine can tell the difference it is but these machines are very expensive and can only be found at companies such as De Beers. Lab grown diamonds have a specific feature that these machines can locate. In essence they are exactly the same as natural diamonds.
